How the typing test works
Choose 30 seconds, 1 minute or 2 minutes, click the box and type the text exactly as shown. The clock starts with your first key. Correct letters turn green, mistakes are highlighted in red, and you can fix them with Backspace. When time is up you see your result and a share card you can save as an image or send to friends. Press Esc at any time for a fresh text.
How WPM and accuracy are calculated
This test uses the standard definition: one "word" is five characters, spaces included. WPM = correct characters ÷ 5 ÷ minutes. Raw WPM counts every character you typed, right or wrong. Accuracy = keystrokes that were right the first time ÷ all keystrokes. Fixing a mistake helps your WPM but the original slip still counts against accuracy. CPM is correct characters per minute. Pasting text is disabled.
What is a good typing speed?
Figures of roughly 40 WPM are often quoted for an average adult typist, while many office and data-entry jobs ask for 30–40 WPM or more with high accuracy. Treat these as rough guides, not official numbers. More useful is your own trend: take the 1-minute test a few times a week and watch the best score climb.
Tips to type faster
- Rest your fingers on the home row (ASDF and JKL;) and return to it after every word.
- Look at the screen, not the keyboard. It feels slower for a week, then much faster.
- Aim for accuracy first. Speed follows; constant corrections cost more time than slow, clean typing.
- Keep a steady rhythm instead of bursts and pauses.
- Sit straight, keep wrists relaxed, and take short breaks.

Is this typing test free?
Yes. It is free, needs no account and nothing is uploaded. Your best result is saved only in your browser.
How is WPM calculated?
Correct characters divided by 5, divided by the minutes of the test. For example, 300 correct characters in 1 minute = 60 WPM.
Can I take the typing test on a phone?
Yes. Tap the box to open your keyboard. Phone scores are usually lower than on a physical keyboard, so compare like with like.
Why is my accuracy lower than expected?
Accuracy counts every wrong keystroke, even ones you corrected afterwards. Slow down slightly to improve it.
Does it work offline?
Yes. After the first visit the page is cached by your browser and works without internet.
